G1-GAP Course (Part-time)

Stanford College’s TSSA-accredited G1-GAP Course* offers an equivalent to the 500 hours of work experience required on systems exceeding 400,000 Btuh for eligible G2s with at least 3,500 hours of field work experience.
Stanford’s G1-GAP Course provides hands-on training with a range of appliance types, burners, controls, and safeguards, under the supervision of a licensed G1 instructor with professional experience.
The G1-GAP Course can be used as a prerequisite for admission to Stanford’s G1 training program.

· Hold a valid Gas Technician 2 (G2) Certificate of Qualification
· Have 3,500 hours of field work experience as a G2
A licensed G1 gas technician may install, inspect, alter, purge, activate, repair, service or remove a natural gas or propane appliance of any BTU input and the equipment and accessories essential to its operation.
Employment opportunities may be found with companies that install/service/repair gas appliances or with gas utility companies. Licensed G1 graduates may apply for positions such as:

· Gas Fitter 1
· Gas Service Technician
· Journeyman Gas Installer
· Lead Installer
